What is "Social Media"?

 

 Apps like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly known as "Twitter") come to mind when people think about social media. Social media is described "as forms of digital communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content." (APA, 2023)

 But what are the results of having such an expansive network? What happens when people have unlimited access to others, and others, to you?
